The majority of your dancing journey will be spent learning how to stand up straight. Please understand that you have 500 years to learn how to stand straight, but that does not mean that you should get started on it today!
Your teacher will harass you (it seems daily) to stand up straight. Pick your head up, chest up, buttons up, hips under, stomach in, etc. We do so with love. We understand the importance of good posture. We also know that it takes time, a lot of practice, and patience for it to become habit.

~ Good posture gives you the look of confidence.
~ Good posture allows the lungs to work properly.
~ Good posture helps with back, hip, knee, and ankle problems.
~ Good posture is necessary for smoothness, poise, and grace.
~ Good posture makes your movement look attractive.
~ Good posture is necessary for dance hold to feel comfortable.
